Volunteer Holly sets course for the London Marathon!
21 February 2014
Holly Finnigan has voluntered as a befriender at Symonds House for the last 18 months. She does many things to help at the service, but most recently she has been supporting two disabled residents, Mary and Kim, to put their artistic skills to the test and create memory books dedicated to important events in their lives.
Now Holly has signed up to run the London Marathon for Leonard Cheshire Disability and is looking forward to the challenge!
Holly says: ‘Due to my personal connection with the home I will have the privilege of seeing first hand the money I raise being used to enrich the lives of the residents. This has really motivated me to push through the early mornings and sore feet. I am very excited about the big day.’
It's not the first challenge that Holly has undertaken for Symonds House. In 2010 she ran the 5k Race for Life, followed by the Standalone 10k in 2012, where she raised £200. In 2013 she also completed the Nike 'We Own the Night' 10k as well as the Great North Run.
Events officer Klara Wertheim says: ‘We are delighted that Holly is raising much-needed funds for Symonds House. It will make a huge difference to the lives of the disabled people who live there. We wish her best of luck with her training and look forward to seeing her at the start line!’
Holly's target of £1,800 will change the lives of the disabled people she supports. Please help Holly meet her target by giving what you can on her JustGiving page. Every pound will make a difference.
