Trustee's cycle ride is fast approaching

29 July 2014

One of our trustees, Paul Baker, is taking on an amazing 12-day cycling challenge this October with his daughter, raising money for Leonard Cheshire Disability.

The challenge will take them from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, through the rice paddies and waterways of the beautiful Mekong Delta and into Cambodia.

Paul is keeping us updated with his progress leading up to the big challenge — read his first posts from April and June.

End of July 2014 — just over two months to go

Hi all. Well, things are moving on at a pace now and I am doing 30 miles every other day and 50 on Saturday or Sunday. The turning point for me was going down to Cornwall and riding a bike down there each day — so hilly compared to Oxfordshire!Paul Baker with helmet

Sponsorship for Leonard Cheshire is now in excess of £3,000 so I am really pleased about the difference this will make. Anything any of you can do to help bolster that figure will be great too.

All my visas have been acquired and are safely in my passport — what a task that is, you would not believe it. My medical has been done and now I need to start about my injections and malaria tablets — ughhh.

I will touch base again mid September when hopefully I should be all but ready. The goal by then is to be doing 100-mile runs each weekend so fingers crossed I can do that (definitely not in Cornwall though).

If you’d like to sponsor Paul please visit his online fundraising page. Alternatively you can text VIET66 and the amount (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070.
