Stretford and Urmston MP Kate Green backs our disability jobs appeal
18 March 2014
MP for Stretford and Urmston Kate Green MP is backing our appeal to boost job opportunities for disabled people.
She visited our pioneering housing development in Eden Square, Manchester this week to meet residents and staff.
Eden Square is a development of one- and two-bedroom apartments in Urmston, Trafford. The flats are ideal for people who need support to live in their own home who may have physical or learning disabilities. Leonard Cheshire Disability offers support to the people living at Eden Square, working in partnership with Inclusion Housing.
‘It was great to visit Leonard Cheshire’s supported living scheme in Urmston and chat with some of the tenants about how they’re finding life in their new homes in Eden Square,’ said Kate.
‘Leonard Cheshire is doing great work to support disabled people locally. However, tenants in Eden Square still face many challenges in getting into employment.
‘I will therefore be approaching local businesses to see what opportunities they can provide for Eden Square tenants.’
Eden Square's service manager Fiona Quirke added: ‘Eden Square provides supported living for disabled people in the community and Kate saw first-hand the value of our work to support people to live more independently in their local community. We look forward to welcoming her again in the future.’
