Newlyweds take on London Marathon to raise funds for Symonds House

11 August 2014

Jessica with her father on her wedding dayJessica Jacobs married her husband Danny earlier this year. Together they are taking on the 2015 London Marathon for Leonard Cheshire Disability. Jessica explains why.

My father was diagnosed with MS in 1995. Since then the illness has gradually worsened and he has needed more and more care. In 2012 he moved to Symonds House in Hitchin and it completely changed his quality of life.

The nursing quality and pastoral care he's received from Symonds House has been overwhelming. The staff are delightful and do everything in their power to make my dad feel more at home and to take part in the things he enjoys in life.

I'm aware that is some senses my dad is much more able than some of his fellow residents. So my husband and I want to raise money to support the activities and care that Symonds House gives all the residents.

Seeing my dad so settled with his little garden and routines now has really given me comfort. This is all down to Leonard Cheshire and the amazing work they do.

You can join Jessica and Danny on the starting line with one of our London Marathon charity places.
