Gala evening at Champion House
27 October 2015
by Melody Reed
We're excited to be hosting a fundraising evening at Champion House to raise awareness for communication aids and support for people using local Leonard Cheshire Disability services.
The ‘Unlock the Voice Within’ gala evening will feature performances from popular ‘barberpop’ quartet Scarlett Street, electro-swing star Little Violet, and as an appearance from one of Yorkshire’s finest bands, Func on the Rocks.
I'll be performing a specially written song, ‘I Just Smile’, and we also have a guest appearance from Emmerdale actor Rik Makarem.
The highlight of the evening will be a mini-pantomime, ‘Cinderona’, performed by residents at Champion House. Two of the main actors in the show have severe communication impairments.
Over the past few years working for Leonard Cheshire Disability I've met some wonderful people and I wanted to give something back.
It is for this reason I decided to organise an event together with Cath Barker, a volunteer coordinator and fundraiser. We want it to be a night to remember!
The aim is to raise awareness and generate funds to help people access the right support.
It will be held at 7pm on Tuesday 1 December at Eccleshill Sport and Social Club in Bradford and is timed perfectly to coincide with the 10-year anniversary of Champion House's Christmas Concerts.
There will also be a raffle, welcome drink, silent auction and free food! So if you're in the area, make sure you come along!
